Several oxide nano materials applied to glass are mainly used for self-cleaning, transparent heat insulation, near-infrared absorption, electrical conductivity and so on.
1. Nano Titanium Dioxide(TiO2) Powder
Ordinary glass will absorb organic matter in the air during use, forming difficult-to-clean dirt, and at the same time, water tends to form mist on the glass, affecting visibility and reflectivity. The above-mentioned defects can be effectively solved by the nano-glass formed by coating a layer of nano TiO2 film on both sides of the flat glass. At the same time, the titanium dioxide photocatalyst can decompose harmful gases such as ammonia under the action of sunlight. In addition, nano-glass has very good light transmittance and mechanical strength. Using this for screen glass, building glass, residential glass, etc. can save troublesome manual cleaning.
2. Antimony Tin Oxide (ATO) Nano Powder
ATO nanomaterials have a high blocking effect in the infrared region and are transparent in the visible region. Disperse nano ATO in water, and then mix it with suitable water-based resin to make a coating, which can replace metal coating and play a transparent and heat-insulating role for glass. Environmental protection and energy saving, with high application value.
3. Nano cesium tungsten bronze/cesium doped tungsten oxide(Cs0.33WO3)
Nano cesium doped tungsten oxide(Cesium Tungsten Bronze) has the excellent near-infrared absorption characteristics, usually adding 2 g per square meter of coating can achieve a transmittance of less than 10% at 950 nm (this data shows that the absorption of near-infrared ), while achieving a transmittance of more than 70% at 550 nm (the 70% index is the basic index for most highly transparent films).
4. Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) Nano Powder
The main component of the ITO film is indium tin oxide. When the thickness is only a few thousand angstroms (one angstrom is equal to 0.1 nanometer), the transmittance of indium oxide is as high as 90%, and the conductivity of tin oxide is strong. The ITO glass used in liquid crystal displays a kind of conductive glass with high transmittance glass.
There are many other nano materials that can also be used in glass, not limited to the above. Hope that more and more nano-functional materials will enter people’s daily life, and nanotechnology will bring more convenience to life.
