Conductive and antistatic nanomaterials used in textile and chemical fiber industries

The development of nanotechnology and nanomaterials provides new ways and ideas for the exploitation of antistatic products. The conductivity, electromagnetic, super absorptive and broadband properties of nano materials, have created new conditions for the research and development of conductive absorbing fabrics. Chemical fiber clothing and chemical fiber carpets, etc., due to static electricity, produce discharge effects during friction, and are easy to absorb dust, which causes many inconveniences to users; some operating platforms, cabin welding and other front-line workplaces are prone to sparks due to static electricity, which can cause explosions. From the perspective of safety, improving the quality of chemical fiber products and solving the problem of static electricity are important tasks.

Adding nano TiO2, nano ZnO, nano ATO, nano AZO and nano Fe2O3 such nano powders with semiconductor properties into the resin will produce good electrostatic shielding performance, which greatly reduces the electrostatic effect and greatly improves the safety factor.

The antistatic masterbatch prepared by dispersing the multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) in the self-made antistatic carrier PR-86 can produce excellent antistatic PP fibers. The existence of MWCNTs enhances the polarization degree of the microfiber phase and the antistatic effect of the antistatic masterbatch. The use of carbon nanotubes can also improve the antistatic ability of polypropylene fibers and antistatic fibers made of polypropylene blends.

Use nanotechnology to develop conductive adhesives and conductive coatings, to perform surface treatment on fabrics, or to add nano metal powders during the spinning process to make the fibers conductive. For example, in the antistatic agent for polyester-nano antimony doped tin dioxide (ATO) finishing agent, a reasonable stable dispersant is selected to make the particles in a monodispersed state, and the antistatic finishing agent is used to treat polyester fabrics and fabric surface resistance. The magnitude of the untreated> 1012Ω is reduced to the magnitude of <1010Ω, and the antistatic effect is basically unchanged after washing 50 times.

Conductive fibers with better performance include: black conductive chemical fiber with carbon black as the conductive material and white conductive chemical fiber with white powder materials such as nano SnO2, nano ZnO, nano AZO and nano TiO2 as the conductive materials. White-tone conductive fibers are mainly used to make protective clothing, work clothes and decorative conductive materials, and their color tone is better than black conductive fibers, and the application range is wider.
